What's a gal to do

when she has a hankerin' for brownies and ice cream but there isn't a box of brownie mix in the house? She makes them from scratch. (Novel idea, isn't it?)

1 cup butter

2 cups sugar

2 tsp vanilla

4 eggs

3/4 cup cocoa

1 cup flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9x13" pan.

Melt butter. Add sugar and vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each one. Add cocoa. Mix well. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Beat well.

Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until brownies start to pull away from sides of pan.

Cut a generous piece and place in bowl. Top with vanilla ice cream.
